We must be in a foreign country, because ...

  • all the stores are closed on Sunday, except the bakery : )
  • a large cup of coffee is 4 ounces : )
  • I now know my height in centimeters : )
  • the kids don't have school this Wednesday . . . or any Wednesday for that matter : )
  • I just bought a 5 kg (11 lb.) bag of onions  : )
  • I haven't seen a gas station for 6 weeks : )

And, a couple of good ones from our first day in Europe:

  • the customs agent just took one look at our three children, and said, "Wow--big family!" : )
  • I'm a grown man and I have absolutely no idea how to flush this toilet : )

  1. Thanks for sharing! I love the big family comment. In China when they see we have four kids it feels like the way Americans might react to a family of ten - slack jaws and a thousand questions, including "Don't they pay you to have kids in America!", which is usually followed by "In China we can only have one child." Rather than being annoyed by such questions, I have been trying to use it as an opportunity to speak about the Lord's blessings.
